Teacher
Bonnie Russell has been teaching Prenatal Yoga Since 2003 at first she started off only teaching Mother and Baby Yoga but found that most of the women that were coming to yoga postnatally were trying to get some relief for akeing sore and tired bodies that were just not used to the new and changed lifestyle that comes with being a mother and haveing a new baby in the house. For the most part women seemed to anticipate the change to their sleeping patterns and the fact that they were going to have to look after their lower back and their pelvic floors but many other things had been over looked, like the constent demands on the wrists and the arms in holding carrying and feeding a new baby. Bonnie decided there and then to get into prenatal yoga to help
strengthan and prepare the body for motherhood so that rather than spending her time trying to fix things she could work a little more preventatively so that by the time women had their babies they had the mind, body and spirit to really enjoy and get the most they can out of motherhood. The Journey into motherhood is an experience and one that is different for every woman Bonnie has shared this journey with many women and each time she goes on this journey with someone it adds to her knowledge her understanding and her own journey at first Bonnie set out to makeing motherhood physicall more comfortable for women but it has grown into so much more than that.
Bonnie Compleated her Advanced Deplomer of yoga teacher Training At the CAE in 2001 and her Prenatal Training in 2003. Bonnie Still Felt she had more to learn and add to her Knowlegde Bass so in 2005 she started Working with Nina Issabella one of the Top prenatal yoga teachers in Melbourne and a mother who has a keen interest and in and who has suffered from Pelvic instability. Bonnie Begain Teaching Prenatal Yoga in 2006 and has Taught in Thornbury, Kensington, Blackburn and Nothcote as well as doing one on one sessions. Other Prenatal Yoga Projects
‘Transitions’ is a PhD research project conducted by a collaborative group of health professionals who share a passion in supporting those making the transition to parenthood. This current study was designed from previous research evidence and clinical experience. In order to identify the clinical significance of both the programme intervention and telephone-based support intervention, we are looking to recruit volunteers who would like to participate in this clinical research study.
Both interventions illustrate immense benefits not only to the individual, but the community. Results will further enhance midwifery care, support and education across the transition. On a personal level, we aim to assist you in the transition to parenthood, regardless of the therapeutic intervention you are assigned too, by offering you timely, practical and professional advice.
